The complaint was submitted in 2014 by the Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia on the alleged killings of birds in Serbia. According to the complainant, there have been 122 birds poisoned from 2007 until 2014. It includes the poisoning of the White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), which is strictly protected under the Bern Convention. The complainant stated that the poisoning of birds results in the direct lowering of breeding and non-breeding populations, in the loss of chicks in the nest belonging to poisoned adults, and in the secondary poisoning of carcass-eating animals consuming already poisoned birds.

In 2016 a similar complaint was received from EPAR – OIPA Serbia / Alliance for Nature Protection, the rights of animals and people, and the 2 complaints were merged. The case was closed in 2022 with a request to the authorities to provide a progress report to a future meeting of the Group of Experts on Conservation of Birds / IKB.
