Retour Presumed risk of national extinction of Great Bustards

This complaint was submitted in 2016 by the association “EPAR - OIPA SERBIA Serbia / Alliance for Nature Protection, the rights of animals and people” on the conservation status of the Great Bustard (Otis tarda) in Serbia which is protected under the Appendix II of the Bern Convention and is, according to the complainant, in danger of extinction. The complainant considers the deliberate killing of birds, the disturbance of nesting individuals on the ground and the destruction of birds’ habitat through agricultural activities as the main reasons for the reduction of the population size.
