ELoGE in Slovakia - Launch of the Second Round

Local authorities need to comply with the 12 Principles of Good Democratic Governance. This compliance can be measured through the implementation of the benchmark for the European Label of Governance Excellence (ELoGE), which is also an excellent learning opportunity for the municipalities to improve their daily work. At the end of the ELoGE Programme, a crystal dodecahedron – the symbol of ELoGE - is awarded to the municipalities which have demonstrated compliance with the principles of good governance, measured against a national benchmark.

With the support of the Centre of Expertise, the Slovak Republic is embarking on the second round of ELoGE in the country. As a first step, on 11 November a group of national experts will be trained on the ELoGE Programme to be able to support the participating municipalities in self-evaluations. The implementation phase including evaluations and citizen surveys will last from January until May 2022 while the final Award Ceremony is foreseen to take place in June 2022.

ELoGE in Slovakia is implemented in cooperation with the accredited institution Dobry Uradnik, in the framework of the Council of Europe – European Union Join Project “Delivering Good Governance in Slovakia – II phase”. The Centre of Expertise is currently supporting implementation of ELoGE in about 20 countries around the continent. Many of them have already completed several rounds of ELoGE.
