A regional Workshop on “AML/CFT risk based approach to Supervision of DNFPBs” took place on 22-23 November 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey. The workshop targeted the anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing supervisory authorities responsible for the supervision of Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries.
The objective was to assist the authorities and self-regulatory bodies in the EaP jurisdictions in responding to money laundering and terrorist financing risks and vulnerabilities associated with designated non-financial businesses and professions such as: casinos, real estate agents, dealers in previous metals and stones, lawyers, notaries, legal professional, accountants, and trust and company service providers. The participants explored, through presentations, case studies and practical exercises, relevant standards, concept and functions of risk-based supervision, sectoral and institutional money laundering and terrorism financing risk assessments, and development of annual examination plans.
This activity was organised within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance Regional Project “Fight against corruption and fostering good governance; fight against money laundering”.
