On 27 and 28 April Regional Project Strengthening Measures to Prevent and Combat Economic Crime hosted a workshop on The Use of Non-Conviction Based Seizure and Confiscation.
The workshop welcomed representatives from law enforcement bodies, judiciary and other government bodies with policy making, investigative and enforcement functions in the asset recovery field from Eastern Partnership countries.
Participants discussed the alternative models of Non-Conviction Based Confiscation under different legal systems as well as the benefit and challenges of implementing a Non-Conviction Based Confiscation (NCBC). Practical examples were shared and explored with participants, including case studies for the effective application of NCBC, including through international cooperation, and cases of the European Court of Human Right.
