A two-day workshop aimed at improving the methodologies and practices of AML/CFT supervision was held by the PECK II Project in Prevallë, Kosovo on 5 and 6 March 2019. Representatives from the FIU-K, the Central Bank, as well as other sectorial supervisors in the AML/CFT areas including representatives from the Chamber of Notaries, Chamber of Advocates, Tax Administration, Society of Certified Accountants and Auditors, Department for Free Professions and Kosovo Metrology Agency had the opportunity to discuss and compare best practices on risk-based approach to AML/CFT supervisory activities with the Council of Europe‘s expert.
During the event, supervisors were also asked to work in groups which provided them with the opportunity to express their understating of developing inspection plans based on risk assessment and institutional profiling. Furthermore, the discussions helped identifying shortcomings and needs which will be reflected in the development of methodological tools for risk-based supervision and risk-based approach to AML/CFT inspections.
