A group of 14 Regional Business Ombudspersons and staff members of the Federal Business Ombudsman from the Russian Federation participated in a Study Visit to the Council of Europe on 12-13 November 2015. During the two-day visit members of the secretariat of the Council of Europe representing: Action against Crime Department, Directorate-General on programmes, Execution of Judgements Division, Democracy, Institution-Building and Governance Department, Group of States against corruption (GRECO) and the European Court of Human Rights met with the delegation to discuss issues linked to their day-to-day work including: the Council of Europe standards and good practices against corruption; the European Court of Human Rights case law on the protection of entrepreneurs rights; etc. The participants also had the opportunity to discuss with the representative of the European Ombudsman the role and mandate of this institution in the EU. A separate session was dedicated to a meeting with representatives of the Strasbourg Bar association to discuss the practice of Pro bono work.
