The Training “On auditing of election campaign finances” gathered over 20 Central Election Commission (CEC) staff and auditors in Vlora, Albania on 27 July 2021.
CEC staff and auditors worked on and discussed case studies on verification and audit of election campaign financing. Two Council of Europe experts and a National Democratic Institute expert presented an overview of legal requirements and good auditing practices for the CEC appointed auditors on the verifications and auditing of election campaign reports submitted by political parties. Participants got familiarised with the election campaign finance report template and audit report templates for election campaign finances.
At the end of the training, participants suggested several improvements on the reporting templates and auditing.
Following this event, the appointed auditors by the Central Election Commission will prepare and submit the audit of election campaign reports to the Central Election Commission.
The Training was a joint activity organised by the “Action against economic crime in Albania”, which is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe Programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey and the Project “Promoting Political Finance Reform” implemented by the National Democratic Institute with the support of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and British Embassy in Tirana.
