Support provided to establishment of clear procedures for public officials’ reporting of accounts held in foreign jurisdictions

The Action against economic crime in North Macedonia supports beneficiaries in establishing clear procedures for appropriate public officials to report accounts held in foreign jurisdictions, taking into consideration the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Article 52, par.6.

On 26 April 20024, a meeting was organised by the Action against economic crime, during which a Council of Europe consultant presented recommendations for establishing the above-mentioned procedures. Representatives of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, the Ministry of Justice and the National Bank took part in this meeting and engaged in a fruitful discussion with the consultant. The draft proposals for establishing the appropriate procedures and sanctions for non-compliance will be updated based on the discussion and the feedback received during the meeting and will serve as bases for beneficiaries when revising specific laws and bylaws with the aim to regulate more specifically the reporting of accounts held in foreign jurisdictions.

This activity was organised by the Action against economic crime in North Macedonia, within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint Programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
