Retour Supporting Montenegrin authorities’ efforts to enhance regulatory framework for implementation of international restrictive measures

Representatives of the institutions competent for the implementation of International Restrictive Measures participated in a meeting of the Working group for amending the Law on International Restrictive Measures, held on December 22, 2021 in Podgorica, Montenegro.

During the meeting, the proposals for enhancing the legal framework developed within the Action were presented and challenges related to the current legislation were discussed such as: effective and timely implementation of targeted financial sanctions, identification of designated persons, detailed procedures upon listing and delisting, management of frozen assets, liability for occurred damage, protection of third parties’ rights and supervision over implementation of sanctions.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the EU/Council of Europe Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey Phase II – Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro (AEC-MNE), was presented during the session of the working group.
