Members of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reform and Central Election Commission of Albania participated in an exchange program in Paris, France and Brussels, Belgium. The programme included meetings and exchange of experiences with the National Commission for campaign accounts and political financing in France, members of Law and Professional Ethics Committee at the French Senate and the Commission of electoral expenses and accounts of political parties at the Belgian House of Representatives.
Participants discussed on topics pertaining to the definition of funding and issues relevant to public and private funding, effective auditing of election campaign finances, regulation of income from private sources, expenditure and campaign activities. This visit provided the opportunity to exchange on current electoral reform in Albania and also discuss the current legal developments in France and Belgium. The visit will contribute to the enhancing of the understanding by the Albanian authorities on the needs for reform of legal and institutional framework on political party finance in Albania. The activity is a follow up activity to the assistance provided to the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reform and to the Central Election Commission provided by the joint EU/CoE Horizontal Facility Action against Economic Crime in Albania.
