International standards and good practice in relation to targeted financial sanctions for terrorist financing and financing of proliferation are discussed in a workshop organised by the Joint EU/CoE Project against Economic Crime (PECK II) on 10 and 11 May 2017.
The event brings together members of the inter-ministerial working group on amending and supplementing the Law on Implementation of International Sanctions composed of relevant ministries, Prime Minister’s Office, other central beneficiary institutions EULEX and EU Office. Working group members discussed relevant international standards especially FATF Recommendations 6 and 7 and comparative good practice as presented by the Council of Europe expert. PECK II Project will continue supporting the Working Group during the reviewing process of the Law on Implementation of International Sanctions to address existing shortcomings concerning targeted financial sanctions related to terrorist financing and financing of proliferation and further ensure its compliance with relevant international standards and good practice.
