CyberSouth+ Workshop on the First Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime and the amendments to the criminal code of Morocco

The CyberSouth+ project supportedthe Ministry of Justice of Morocco in organising a workshop on the criminalization of acts of a racist and xenophobic nature committed through computer systems and the proposed amendments to the criminal code of Morocco In line with the First Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention).

The discussion between the representatives of the Moroccan institutions and the experts of the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe (C-PROC) highlighted the need to address racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and to harmonise substantive criminal law provisions related to these offences in the context of online activities.

Morocco is a Party to the Budapest Convention and to its Protocols and intends to introduce new substantive and procedural provisions that are compliant with the provisions of the international legal framework.
