Horacio J. Azzolin

Horacio Azzolin is a lawyer, graduated from Universidad Católica Argentina (1996), has a postgraduate degree in criminal law at the University of Palermo (2002), and has 28 years of experience in the Argentine justice service.

He began his professional development in the Judicial Branch, where he went through all the categories of the judicial career until he became Secretary (1997/2004 and 2006) and Criminal Judge (2004 and 2007). Since 2008 he has been a Federal Prosecutor, specialized in litigation of complex cases related to organized crime and massive violations of human rights.

Starting in 2013, he deals with cybercrime cases, first as a focal point of the National Attorney General's Office and, since late 2015, as head of the Specialized Cybercrime Unit (UFECI). The main mission of the UFECI is to carry out preliminary investigations and assist prosecutors in cases where the computer system has been the subject of the crime or has been the main means or accessory to commit it.

In addition to representing the agency in various national and international forums, it was designated the contact point of the Public Ministry in the Ibero-American Network of International Legal Cooperation (IberRed), in the specialized network of the Ibero-American Association of Public Ministries (CiberRed) and contact point of the G7 24/7 Network of High Tech Crime.

He participated in various seminars and training courses, taught at the country's major universities, gave lectures at various events in the country and abroad and is the author of several articles on criminal law, criminal procedural law and computer crimes.
