iPROCEEDS-2: Introductory Training Course for Judges and Prosecutors on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence

From 13 to 15 December 2022 another Introductory Training Course for Judges and Prosecutors on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence has been delivered under the framework of the joint European Union and Council of Europe project iPROCEEDS-2, this time having as audience around 23 magistrates from Serbia.

The training provided a solid base for future similar endeavours and introduced the participants to the concepts and topics related to cybercrime, electronic evidence and international co-operation. It focused on internet basics, cybercrime terminology during the investigation and prosecution phases, substantive provisions, procedural powers and international and interagency co-operation concepts provided by the Convention on Cybercrime. Participants were actively engaged in the practical debates and expressed their need for more advanced and specialised courses on cybercrime and electronic evidence.

Representatives of the EU Programme “Facility supporting Serbia in achieving the objectives of Chapter 24: Justice, Freedom and Security” attended the opening day of the course to explore the possibility of future co-operation with the iPROCEEDS-2 project.

iPROCEEDS-2 will continue to provide judicial training to the magistrates in the project countries/area and increase their skills to coordinate cybercrime investigations and make more informed decisions in the prosecuted cases.
