Irina Drexler has been with the Cybercrime Programme Office in Bucharest since 2018 and is currently part of the Octopus Project team (www.coe.int/OctopusProject), coordinating the working group on the Cyberviolence Resource (www.coe.int/cyberviolence) and serving as contact person on communication matters for the Office (www.coe.int/cybercrime). 

Prior to this, she worked with the Council of Europe in the framework of the No Hate Speech Movement (Youth Department and others) as national coordinator of the Romanian team, as well as for internet governance processes and consultancies on online hate speech, discrimination and children’s rights. She was a member of the Pool of European Youth Researchers (EU-CoE Youth Partnership), worked for the Romanian Peace Institute (PATRIR) and was part of the team that founded the first digital humanities research centre in Romania (DigiHUBB) within her alma mater, further to 8+ years’ experience in academic management at local and national level.

Irina Drexler is from Romania and holds a PhD in linguistics, an MA in British Cultural Studies and a BA in English and Japanese language, culture and literature after studies in Cluj Napoca and Vienna.
