Since joining ARTICLE 19 in 2016, Joanna has worked on a number of issues related to freedom of expression across Europe and Central Asia – including media freedom, hate speech and digital rights. She regularly conducts trainings for journalists and activists on how to counter hate speech while protecting the right to freedom of expression. Prior to joining ARTICLE 19, Joanna worked at Freedom House, supporting investigative journalists in Eastern Europe. Between 2010 and 2014, Joanna gained experience in project management working with local NGOs in Poland and France focusing on equality and non-discrimination. She has an M.A. in Russian studies from University of Gdansk and postgraduate diploma in International law from Warsaw University.
