From 17 to 19 May 2017, the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe, in the framework of its regional Cybercrime@EAP III project, was engaged in a number of activities in Ukraine that would facilitate public-private cooperation on cybercrime and electronic evidence.

Final discussion and review of the specific solutions to procedural law problems were presented in Kyiv and discussed with a wide array of partners and stakeholders in Kyiv on 17 May 2017. Legislative package prepared with the help of the Council of Europe experts, which is a result of work that started back in September 2016 through series of meetings and in-country missions, has been finalized and handed over to the Government of Ukraine for further action. Its adoption would greatly facilitate the compliance of Ukrainian law with the requirements of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.

On 18 May, the group of main stakeholders in the process of public-private cooperation on cybercrime and electronic evidence has reached an agreement on the principles of cooperation memorandum between the law enforcement and the Internet service providers, which could provide the basis for further work in this area throughout 2017.

Project administration and further support to these two initiatives was discussed at the consultative meeting between the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe and the country team of Ukraine on 19 May, at the Council of Europe Office in Kyiv.
