The EU stands in solidarity with the women and girls, victims and survivors of violence.
The European Commission has taken up the initiative of the German Presidency of the Council in 2020 and announced a new EU-wide harmonised number for helplines for victims of violence against women : 116 016, reachable with the same number across the EU. Member States must commit to connecting their existing helplines for victims of violence against women to this number. The deadline for Member States is end of April 2023.
