The Youth Department has recently launched an international photo and illustration competition dedicated to human rights education in order to give further visibility to human rights education and to encourage creativity on the themes related to human rights education. The photo and illustration competition was based on the theme of the 3rd Human Rights Education Youth Forum that the Youth Department organises in October 2016, which is “Learning Equality, Living Dignity”.
We would like to hereby gladly announce the winners of the competition and at the same time thank all who have submitted their works.
The selection process: The decision regarding the prizes was made by a jury set up by the preparatory group of the Forum and the Secretariat of the Youth Department. Their choices took into account the message of the photo or illustration; the connection to the topic of human rights education; creativity and perceived artistic and technical quality. The outcomes of public vote through the Facebook page were considered first. The jury decided not to award images that depicting the work of other installations or works of art.
The winners are as follows:
1st prize - a cash voucher of €300 and participation in the 3rd Compass Human Rights Education Forum

2nd prizes - a cash voucher of €100 and participation in the 3rd Compass Human Rights Education Forum
- Liridona Ismaili, for “Giving and treating everyone in the same way; It's not how good you are. It's how good you want to be.”
- Tsim Tsoum for “Some undocumented migrants”
3rd prizes - participation in the 3rd Compass Human Rights Education Forum
- Bujar Gashi for “Mirror”
- Leila Lázár, for “Roma and non-Roma children living and playing together in peace.”
- Lucila Costas, for “I love to inspire to pay forward” #NoHate”
- Eliza Kurcevič, for “ 47 humans from 9 different countries stood for migrants rights”
The photos and illustrations chosen will be included in the publications of the Youth Department related to the 3rd Compass Human Rights Education Forum and also exhibited at the European Youth Centre Budapest.
Every participant of the competition will also receive an official Council of Europe Certificate and materials of the Council of Europe on human rights education.
Winners will be contacted by the Secretariat of the Youth Department soon regarding their invitation to the Human Rights Education Forum “Learning Equality, Living Dignity”.
