Albanian institutions collaborate to enhance execution of ECtHR Judgments

Senior representatives from the State Advocate’s Office, along with key Albanian judicial and human rights institutions involved in executing European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) judgments, participated in a consultation roundtable to discuss the needs-assessment report titled "Analysis of ECtHR judgements v. the Republic of Albania (2023) and the situation of their execution". This report, supported by the joint European Union/Council of Europe D-REX III action, evaluates the current status of the execution of ECtHR judgements against Albania in civil and criminal law.

The report highlights the pivotal role of the State Advocate's Office in implementing these judgments, including its coordination with other domestic institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, High Court, and Constitutional Court. The roundtable facilitated interinstitutional dialogue, provided concrete suggestions for improving the coordination and monitoring of ECtHR judgment execution in Albania, and strengthened understanding of the main challenges to effectively implementing the individual and general measures mandated by the ECtHR.

This activity was organised under the action “Improving the protection of the right to property and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgments in Albania (D-REX III)”, as part of the European Union and Council of Europe joint program, the "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye.
