On 18-19 April 2018 the European Union and the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, organized training on “Human Rights Protection at pre-trial stage” for prosecutors and investigators.

The purpose of the training was to raise awareness of prosecutors and investigators on European standards on human rights protection at pre-trial stage. The two-day seminar focused on such topics as deprivation of liberty search and seizure, conducting secret investigations and video/audio surveillance. 27 representatives of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office attended the training. Seminar was interactive and loaded with practical examples.

As a result of the training participants got acquainted with European standards in regards to coercive measures.

The event was organised in the framework of the European Union – Council of Europe joint project “Strengthening the Application of the European Convention on Human Rights in Georgia”, within the EU-Councol of Europe Partnership for Good Governance.
