Support to the national institutions in preventing discrimination in Montenegro (PREDIM)
The main partners and beneficiaries of the Project are the senior staff and advisors of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Ombudsperson’s Office; the staff of the Prison administration and the Directorate for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions of the Ministry of Justice; the staff and trainers of the Judicial Training Centre, Judiciary and Law enforcement authorities.
The main objective is to ensure that fundamental human rights have been protected and promoted in compliance with international standards, through better social and institutional responsiveness towards promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights and equal opportunities, specifically focusing on implementation of the anti-discrimination policies.
The following results are expected:
- the efficiency of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights to promote and protect the human rights of marginalised groups is enhanced (LGBT, Roma, minorities and people with disabilities);
- the capacity of the Ombudsperson’s Office to process anti-discrimination cases and carry out NPM functions is improved;
- the capacity of the Ministry of Justice to further align the prison system of Montenegro with international human rights standards is improved;
- the capacities of the Judicial Training Centre to further raise awareness on the human rights/anti-discrimination issues among the judiciary are enhanced.
