Continuous dialogue between judges and the representatives of the Equality Council, will increase their cooperation on non-discrimination and equality in the Republic of Moldova

 

On 23 April 2021, a dialogue process on equality and non-discrimination was launched in the Republic of Moldova, involving judges and the representatives of the Equality Council.

The dialogue group brings together 20 participants, including judges designated from the Superior Court of Justice, Court of Appeal Chisinau, Chisinau Court and territorial judicial instances, and representatives of the Council for preventing and eliminating discrimination and ensuring equality. The participants will attend five dialogue sessions in order to develop their dialogue, their co-operation in order to ensure qualitative institutional answers in applying the non-discrimination law.

The initiative is organised by the projects ”Strengthening the capacities of the justice sector actors to deliver justice in line with European standards, in particular to fight discrimination in the Republic of Moldova”, and “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership”, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme (PGG II), funded by the European Union the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe.

The activities will be implemented through practical workshops, experiential learning, analysis of the most recent tendencies in the practice of international instances and the dialogue on actual problems in enforcing the non-discrimination legislation, encountered by the participants of the group in their current activity.

 

This is a joint activity of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership”, and of the national project ”Strengthening the capacities of the justice sector actors to deliver justice in line with European standards, in particular to fight discrimination in the Republic of Moldova”, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme (PGG II), funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.
