Supporting young people to stand up against discrimination in the Republic of Moldova

From February to July 2021, "MilleniuM" Training and Development Institute carried out a project on strengthening the capacities of youth workers on human rights education with young people, with the support of the EU – Council of Europe project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes in the Eastern Partnership”.

The main activity of the project consisted in a training course for youth workers on human rights education with young people, based on the Council of Europe manuals on this topic. Four online sessions and a one-week training activity were carried out. The 46 participants of the online sessions got more informed and aware about the Istanbul Convention and role of youth workers in promoting of gender equality and non-discrimination and about their role in working with young people on such topic as bullying, non-discrimination and hate speech and how to address them in their activities.

20 most active participants were selected to take part in the residential training course, during which participants improved their skills to inform young people about remedies to discrimination and their human rights. Over 520 young people are in the outreach of the 20 participants, so the project has had significant outreach towards young people from different regions in the Republic of Moldova.

This project was organised with the support of the project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme (PGG II).
