In the interest of the residents’ quality of life, Sherbrooke wants to support community organisations in delivering projects related to the fields of activity identified in the Community and Social Development Policy.
The fields of activity covered include:
- Combating social exclusion and poverty ;
- Housing ;
- Safety ;
- Integration of people with disabilities ;
- Individual mobility ;
- Sports, culture, and recreation ;
- Urban development.
The CAP-CD is a strategic and financial lever whose main goal is to improve the well-being of a specific community or the Sherbrooke community as a whole.
The plan is also intended to be an information and outreach tool on community development for organisations eligible with the city of Sherbrooke’s Recreation and Community Life Division.
More specifically, the CAP-CD aims to:
- Facilitate resident involvement and community engagement ;
- Transfer and implement innovative practices in the community ;
- Promote volunteering, stakeholder collaboration, and partnerships ;
- Empower individuals and communities.
