On 26 September 2019, in New York, the Council of Europe-led European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) was presented as an example of good practice during a UN General Assembly side event organised by UNESCO in co-operation with the Institute of International Education (IIE).
Anwar Horani, an EQPR holder, participated in a panel discussion (via video) to share her experience as a refugee who had her qualifications assessed and how the EQPR has had a positive impact on her life.
During the event, UNESCO also presented its project for a global qualifications passport for refugees. The Council of Europe, NOKUT (the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) and the UNHCR are contributing to the discussions on the development of the new global tool led by UNESCO.
The project is among the success stories of the Council of Europe Action Plan on protecting refugees and migrant children in Europe.
