On 25 November 2016 the Gender Equality Unit participated in a Roundtable on Women Refugees, Migrants and Asylum-Seekers in Europe and the Southern Mediterranean: Meet the immediate emergency need and find the longer term solutions organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe as part of the Lisbon Forum 2016. The Roundtable included representatives from civil society and the recommendations from the Roundtable indicated the need to implement comprehensive policies and specific measures to ensure that women and girl refugees, migrants and asylum-seekers are protected and have facilitated access to the services they need, including legal support and access to justice in relevant languages.
