On 26 and 27 March 2025, the Council of Europe hosted a dynamic two-day event aimed at empowering children, and their parents and caregivers to tackle violence against children and to prevent and deal with online risks. The initiative brought together 110 participants—families and child protection professionals—to openly explore the challenges and solutions. Insightful discussions took place in a supportive and inclusive setting, with practical guidance and examples of good practice shared between participants. Children and parents/ caregivers were empowered to ask questions and share their experiences, deepening their understanding of children’s rights and the tools available to prevent and respond to online violence.
The event provided children, as well their parents and caregiver with accessible, age-appropriate information on recognising warning signs of abuse, navigating the digital environment safely, and seek support.
National consultants, supported by the Public Defender’s Office and the School Resource Officer’s Agency, opened the sessions with a discussion on children's rights protection, followed by two days of interactive workshops on online safety, self-protection, and recognising signs of abuse.
The activity underscores the Council of Europe’s commitment to creating safer digital environments for children in Georgia and to fostering their safer future by equipping them, their families, as well as professionals working in the field of child protection, with knowledge and confidence to stay safe both offline and online.
The event was organised under the Project “Combating Violence Against Children in Georgia”, implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
