The Council of Europe Office in Georgia together with the Coalition for Equality organised a training on the prohibition of discrimination for the community and civil society organisations (CSOs) from various regions of Georgia. The main aim of the training was to inform the representatives of CSOs about the legal and theoretical frameworks defining discrimination, the importance of the prohibition of discrimination and local and international non-discrimination mechanisms. The training was facilitated by the representatives of ‘Coalition for Equality’ member organisations together with the Rule of Law Centre.
The training was attended by 22 participants from 9 CSOs working on discrimination, human rights and equality issues, including: Red Bridge, Salami, Solidarity Museum, Civic Engagement and Activism Center, Youth for Democratic Changes, Kakheti Regional Development Foundation, Leliani Adult Education Center, Union of parents of children with disability Lampari and Qedeli Community.
The training improved the capacity of representatives of minorities at risk and civil society organisations working with diverse groups in local communities to advocate for equality and diversity.
This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia.” The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
