Mediators' Association Ethics Commission Workshop Focuses on Enhancing Ethical Standards and Disciplinary Measures

On 23rd of October the Council of Europe organised a workshop for the Ethics Commission of the Mediators Association of Georgia. The purpose of the workshop was to promote and enhance ethical standards and practices within the field of mediation, ultimately contributing to handling cases more professionally.

The participants of the workshop consisted of the members of the Ethics Commission. Additionally, a representative from the Mediation Council of Azerbaijan also participated in the meeting. During the session, the attendees engaged in discussions concerning the specific aspects related to the code of conduct for mediators within their respective countries.

A significant part of the workshop was dedicated to exploring the Council of Europe's standards on ethical conduct and disciplinary liability for mediators. In addition, the CoE international expert provided participants with a broader perspective on the diverse approaches to ethical standards and disciplinary measures across different jurisdictions. Participants explored the system of ethical compliance and sanctions for maintaining professionalism and integrity in the mediation process. As part of the group exercise, the participants participated in case studies based on real cases.

The workshop was organised by the Council of Europe Project “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in Georgia.”
