Second Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Project “Enhanced Access to Legal Aid Services for Marginalised Population

On 13 December 2022 the project Enhanced Access to Legal Aid Services for Marginalised Population organised its second Steering Committee Meeting to discuss the first year of project implementation and plan future activities.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Head of Cooperation Programmes Division Ms Lilit Daneghian, Chairperson of the Georgian Bar Association Mr David Asatiani and the First Deputy Head of the Legal Aid Service Ms Nino Meladze. Among the attendees also were Ms Başak Boyoglu, Coordinator of the project from the Council of Europe, Mr David Simonia, Deputy Head of the Legal Aid Service and Mr Konstantine Gelashvili, Chair of the Georgian Bar Association’s Ethics Commission.

During the meeting the participants discussed project progress, its accomplishments and challenges in 2022 year and approved the plan for the following 6 months of the implementation. During the second session the representatives of partner organisations discussed their outstanding needs while the project team presented the updated logframe.

The project Enhanced Access to Legal Aid Services for Marginalised Population is implemented in Georgia with the objective to improve access to free legal aid in the country, increase the quality of services, improve the professionalism and efficiency of free legal aid lawyers and improve coordination between the justice system actors.
