Training on “Legal Writing Techniques”

On 19-20 November 2016 Council of Europe (CoE) in co-operation with the Public Defender’s Office (PDO) of Georgia organized training on “Legal Writing Techniques”. The purpose of the training was to advance legal writing skills of PDO staff.

As a result of the training PDO staff familiarized with developing legal and human rights argumentation and convincingly presenting arguments before courts and other institutions. Also, topics such as: effective report writing, academic writing styles, structure of legal document, reasoning and technical aspects were discussed. Team of Georgian and international COE experts provided practical recommendations to participants based on analysis of legal documents produced by PDO.

The training was organized within the framework of the Project “Improving the Operational Capacities of Public Defender’s Office of Georgia” funded by the CoE Human Rights Trust Fund.
