Working on enhancing communication and interpersonal skills of the Labour Inspection Office Staff

To strengthen the effectiveness and public image of the Labour Inspection Office (LIO) of Georgia, five intensive training sessions on persuasive communication and interpersonal skills were conducted in June and July 2024. Nearly 100 labour inspectors and LIO management staff, who passed the training series, will be able to use effective communication techniques in their interactions with employers, employees and colleagues. This will further enhance the efficiency of their everyday work and allow them to handle conflicts and emotions better.

When asked to provide their feedback, the majority of participants expressed that the specialised training sessions improved their interpersonal skills, which are crucial for fulfilling the LIO mandate and enhancing labour rights in Georgia. They emphasized that, as a relatively new legal entity, the LIO must strengthen these skills in its employees to effectively implement its duties. This will enable the institution to fulfil its mission of protecting labour rights, thereby contributing to a more just and equitable work environment in the country.

The training sessions were organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Further Enhancement of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia.” The Project is implemented as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
