On 25 November 2022, working meeting on oversight over the execution of the judgements and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) was held in Tbilisi. The workshop gathered representatives of the Parliament, Ministry of Justice, Public Defender’s Office, Supreme Court of Georgia, General Prosecutor’s Office and Non-governmental organizations to discuss Georgia’s experience and challenges in this area as well as the role of different government and national human rights institutions in the process of execution of ECTHR judgments and decisions.
The event participants agreed that there is a need to develop Execution Strategy and corresponding Action Plan for Georgia to improve relevant regulatory framework and existing procedures.
The event was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Enhancing Implementation of Human Rights Practices and Education in Georgia”.
