Retour Thematic workshop on Taking a Case to the European Court of Human Rights

The Council of Europe, together with the Georgian Bar Association and the National Institute of Human Rights, is organized 2 thematic workshops on “Taking a Case to the European Court of Human Rights”. This activity is organised in the framework of the European Union and Council of Europe Joint Programme on “Strengthening the capacity of lawyers and human rights defenders for domestic application of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and of the Revised European Social Charter (RESC)”.

65 lawyers, representatives of 15 NGOs and 10 law students were invited for the workshop, which has been led by skilled expert in Human Rights - Besarion Bokhashvili and a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights - Natia Japaridze. Participants took part in a case study discussions aimed at enhancing the knowledge on procedure before the European court of Human Rights. The workshop was held on 15-16 May at the premises of the Free University of Georgia.
