Aim:
The study session aims to support and empower young peacebuilders, members of the Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN) to increase their capacities as actors in the European peacebuilding field.
Objectives:
- To explore design of needs assessment, impact and evaluation in peacebuilding by discussing the gap between theory and reality and developing a quality criteria for YPAN projects.
- To exchange and document innovative non-violent approaches in peacebuilding tools and methodologies to achieve a culture of peace reflecting also on the achievements and the work of the Council of Europe and YPAN for the past 10 years.
- To support peer exchange on peacebuilding skills in organisation including strategic planning, leadership, project management, facilitation and peer exchange on self care of activists.
- To develop future common activities of the YPAN promoting the culture of peace at the European, regional, and local level based on the guidelines and tools developed and shared in the study session.
- To strengthen the cooperation between Youth Peace Ambassadors Network and the Youth Department of Council of Europe in the field of peacebuilding and peace education.
About the organisation
The Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN) is an informal network of 120 young peace-builders from across Europe who work with and in conflict-affected communities.
YPAN’s mission is to develop a culture of peace by empowering young people, and promoting human rights, dignity, equality, and respect for diversity through education, advocacy, and other non-violent actions through projects at the local and international levels. YPAN was established in 2011.
