The Lithuanian Centre of Human Rights, in partnership with the Human Rights Film Festival "Inconvenient Films," is presenting the Lithuanian edition of Compass: Manual for Human Rights Education with Young People in Vilnius on 24 October 2024, within the programme of the Presidency of Lithuania of Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The event, taking place at the MO Museum in Vilnius, will bring together decision-makers, educators, and young people to explore how the manual can enhance human rights education across Lithuania. A key feature of the event will be a screening of the documentary Following Valeria, which tells the story of a young Ukrainian refugee and online activist. This film will highlight important human rights issues like hate speech and refugee rights, providing a practical example of how Compass can be used to tackle these topics in educational settings.
The event aims to raise awareness about the updated manual, inspire participants to integrate human rights principles into their work, and foster dialogue among key stakeholders.
This event will be followed up by a training course based on Compass in November in Kėdainiai, Lithuania, for education professionals.
