Educational staff members and youth workers of the Council of Europe Quality Label for Youth Centres Network gathered last week in Plovdiv, Bulgaria to further develop their skills and knowledge in human rights education. The Course was hosted by one of the youth centres holding the Quality Label, Youth Centre Plovdiv, between 14 and 17 May 2019. During the training participants learned new ways to embed human rights education - through arts, sports, outdoor education - in the work and programmes of the youth centres and had opportunities to strengthen their network and build future cooperation among labelled youth centres.

The Council of Europe Quality Label represents an opportunity for youth centres in signatory states of the European Cultural Convention to associate to the values and youth policy priorities of the Council of Europe. The programme also places a great emphasis on peer learning and networking and promotes recognition and quality of non-formal learning and youth work.

The training course, as a feature of the programme, was introduced in 2015 with the aim to further support youth centres, labelled or in the process, to develop the quality of their educational programmes in respect to the priorities of the youth sector of the Council of Europe and the needs of young people they serve. Currently 13 youth centres across Europe hold the Council of Europe Quality Label for Youth Centres.
