Safety and security instructions
On arrival, please read the safety instructions displayed in your room and note the fire exit nearest to your bedroom and meeting room. In case of emergency, inform Reception immediately (Phone: 1060)
You are requested to wear your identity badge visibly at all times.
If you notice any suspicious unattended parcels, please inform Reception immediately.
Budapest is a beautiful and historical capital. It is also a metropolis and, as in every large city, visitors can sometimes become victims of crime.
Please be aware of the following:
- Pickpockets might operate, particularly on public transport and in crowded places.
- Check the prices in bars and restaurants before placing your order, and check your bill carefully before paying!
- Make sure you use one of the reliable taxi companies to avoid unnecessary expenses. Do not use taxis that are labelled “Freelance”.
- You are legally obliged to carry some form of identification with you when leaving the EYCB.
- Valuables: Please note that the EYCB cannot take responsibility for valuables or personal belongings. The EYCB provides a safe for your use and convenience in front of the luggage room. If you need help with this, Receptionist can assist you.
Sauna
If you wish to use the sauna, please inform Reception one hour in advance.
A minimum of two users is required before the heat is switched on.
The sauna is free of charge and towels are provided there.
Shopping
You can find several supermarkets and shops in the surrounding area. The usual opening hours of shops are from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. The GRoby supermarket, with low prices and a large selection, is open daily to 9 pm. The big shopping centre ’Mammut’ closes at 9 pm Monday-Saturday and at 6 pm on Sunday. The large West-End City Centre shopping mall near the Western Railway Station is open daily until 11 pm, but not all the shops are open till that time. If you want to go to any of these, please ask the receptionist for directions.
Smoking
The EYCB is a non-smoking building, as are all Council of Europe premises.
Smoking is allowed only outside and in the designated area beside the main entrance.
