Retour Strengthening Resilience of Youth Spaces in Europe

Strengthening Resilience of Youth Spaces in Europe

In the period from 9 until 13 October 2024, a group of young scouts are attending the study session “Strengthening resilience of youth spaces in Europe” at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg. The activity is organised together with the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).

In addition to developing capacity of youth representatives to strengthen resilience of youth organisations in Europe and in their country, the study session also strives towards increasing the number of opportunities for young people to participate in decision-making processes.

During a 5-day activity, the group of 30 young people will reflect on personal and organisational resilience through discussions about leadership and connections, culture and behaviours, procedures, finances and management, ultimately exploring what constitutes resilient decision-making and resilient youth work and youth spaces. They will exchange with Tobias FLESSENKEMPER, the Head of the Youth Department, about the Recommendation CM/Rec(2022)6 on protecting youth civil society, and Wouter ZILVERBERG, Member of the European Scout Committee and Board Member of the European Scout Foundation will familiarise participants with methods to harness human and financial resources to construct resilient organisations. Moreover, the participants will explore new frameworks and tools in strengthening organisational resilience of youth organisations through sharing personal and organisational stories of resilience.

Apart from intensive yet interactive programme, participants will have a chance to explore the city of Strasbourg and network to create stronger alliances for future joint endeavours.
