The study session organised by the World Armenian Youth Network (WostAYN) in cooperation with the Council of Europe under the title RIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY WITH THE COMMUNITY! will bring together some 35 youth leaders from a wide range of European countries.
It aims at raising the level of participation of young people and member organisations of WostAYN, including those with fewer opportunities, in democratic processes at local and national levels via traditional and alternative means of participation.
The programme is organised around existing Council of Europe standards on democratic youth participation and is grounded on the following objectives:
- 1. To empower young leaders, youth workers, multipliers from the member organisations and their communities, including those with migrant backgrounds to take an active role in democratic processes;
- 2. To encourage exchange of experiences and good practices of traditional and non-traditional/alternative ways of meaningful youth participation of member organisations;
- 3. To elaborate mechanisms/tools for meaningful youth participation in democratic processes including digital ones, for further dissemination at local communities/organisations;
- 4. To promote the voices of young people and the democratic participation of network members of WostAYN at the local level through local actions plans.
In addition to the participatory approaches and dialogical learning that are typical of study sessions at the European Youth Centre, the programme foresees the attendance of one of the sessions of the World Forum for Democracy.
