On 18-19 June 2024, the Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme welcomed city representatives to take part in the ICC training on anti-rumours in Strasbourg. Representatives of national authorities and civil society were also invited to participate.
In three interactive workshops, participants learned how to design and use anti-rumours strategies to prevent discrimination, improve coexistence, and harness the potential of diversity by triggering a change in perceptions, attitudes, and behaviours among the general population and specific target groups.
This training was held during the No Hate Speech Week, organised by the Council of Europe between 17 and 20 June 2024 to mark the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, which is celebrated every year on 18 June. The week was dedicated to addressing and combating hate speech through education, collaboration, and practical initiatives.
