Dr. Irakli Giviashvili currently holds a position of an Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. He holds a law degree from the Tbilisi State University, LLm from the University of Heidelberg and a PhD from the Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University. Mr.Giviashvili previously worked as Ambassador at Large on Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (2014 - 2017), Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Director of the International Law Department (2011 - 2014), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (2007 - 2011). In years 2006 -2007, Mr. Giviashvili served as Chief of the Minister's Cabinet, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Moreover, he is the author of of several articles on international human rights and international law.
