Pauliine Koskelo currently serves as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights. Previously, she was a member of the Supreme Court of Finland from 2000 to 2005 and later served as its President from 2006 to 2015. In addition, her past positions include Head of Division (1995–1997), Assistant General Counsel (1998–1999) and Co-director (1999–2000) at the European Investment Bank. 

Koskelo has been proactive in promoting awareness regarding fundamental rights and human rights within the judicial system both in Finland and in Europe. Including by advocating for the necessity to enhance competencies in these areas among the judiciary and emphasizing the significance of incorporating human rights law into judicial practices on all levels. 

Her incisive legal knowledge and analysis is familiar to those who have read her separate opinions, or attended some of the many lectures or seminars to which Koskelo has been invited as a speaker. In addition to her perceptive and astute legal mind, she is an excellent and well-structured public speaker.
