'I welcome the work of the Congress and I assure you that decentralisation in Georgia is the basis of strengthening our democracy,' said the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvilide during a meeting in Tbilisi with Jean-Claude Frécon, President of the Congress. 'The signing of the roadmap on the implementation of our recommendations illustrates the will of the Georgian government to move decisively towards a better application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and the development of democracy in Georgia,' said Jean-Claude Frécon. This signature follows the adoption of Congress Recommendation 334 (2013) on the situation of local and regional democracy in Georgia and the post-monitoring dialogue launched in the recent months between the Congress and the Georgian authorities.
