Congress organised remote electoral assessment mission to Armenia

A delegation from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, led by Mr Stewart Dickson (United-Kingdom, ILDG), Rapporteur and representative of the Congress on the Venice Commission’s Council for Democratic Elections, carried out a remote electoral assessment mission on 2-3 December in view of the partial local elections scheduled for 5 December 2021 in Armenia.

Before the Election Day, online briefings were organised with the President of the Central Election Commission of Armenia, Mr. Tigran Mukuchyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, Mr. Gnel Sanosyan and Deputy-Minister Mr Vache Terteryan and the President of the Communities Association of Armenia (CAA) Mr. Emin Yeritsyan.

Video meetings were also planned with representatives of the international community in Yerevan, members of Armenia’s delegation to the Congress as well as domestic and international NGOs, the media and candidates running in the elections. A briefing with local election observers after the polling day rounded-off the online programme.
