The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) held its 108th plenary meeting in Strasbourg from 4 to 8 July 2022. For the first time since March 2020, virtually all members attended the meeting physically.
During this meeting, the CPT adopted the reports on its periodic visits to Austria (November/December 2021), Lithuania (December 2021) and Italy (March/April 2022), as well as on its ad hoc visit to Belgium (November 2021). These reports will be sent in due course to the respective Governments.[1]
The CPT also discussed its future visit programme and examined Government responses to reports on previous visits.
[1] In accordance with Article 11, paragraph 2, of the CPT Convention, visit reports and related Government responses are published only at the request of the authorities (on a case-by-case basis or through an “automatic publication procedure”).
