Social Rights

The Governmental Committee* of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security ("Governmental Committee") is holding its 147th meeting from 27 November to 2 December 2023.

Among other issues, the Governmental Committee will discuss about the outcomes of the recent meeting of the Working Group on the Reform of the Working Methods and of the impact of CM decisions on the intermediate and long-term tasks of the GC.

The Governmental Committee will also discuss the follow-up to conclusions 2022 of the European Committee of Social Rights with regard to the thematic group on “Labour rights” and examine possible recommendations under the right to a fair remuneration (Article 4), right to just conditions of work (Article 2), right to organize (Article 5), right to bargain collectively (Article 6§2), right to strike (Article 6§4) and right of workers’ representatives to protection (Article 28).

It will also examine the state of submission of national reports 2022 with regard to the thematic group “Children rights” (for Conclusions 2023), with the aim to encourage all member States to respect the fixed deadlines when sending their reports and may discuss the general recommendation in this respect.
