The Council of Europe and Tbilisi Open Air Came Together Again for Human Rights

For the third time, the Council of Europe and Open Air Festival collaborated to promote human rights at one of the most vibrant and popular music events in Georgia on 23-25 June.

Teams of four projects of the Council of Europe have joined forces to showcase the activities at the  “Human Rights Corner” in Lisi Wonderland "Freedom village”  during the festival taking place from 23 to 25 June.

The Council of Europe project teams had a dedicated desk at the Council of Europe’s Human Rights corner engaging with guests through discussions and awareness raising materials. The projects offered quizzes to raise awareness on equality and diversity, sexism and gender stereotypes, and on the role of school and parents in cultivating democratic culture among youth.  The Human Rights Corner hosted discussions on myths and realities related to physical and mental health and offered family yoga sessions and board games to children.

The treasure hunt game organized by the Council of Europe proved to be an exceptionally captivating event aimed at raising awareness. Participants were tasked with answering a range of questions on Council of Europe topics and values, as well as completing challenges. Among the competing participants, three teams, namely "Pirates," "Europe," and "Unity is in Diversity” were awarded thematic prizes for their outstanding performance.

This year the Equality Bus  of CoE provided free transportation for festival attendees throughout the entire event. Alongside the comfortable rides, guests had the opportunity to engage in stimulating discussions about equality and diversity with experts and celebrities aboard the bus.

The Council of Europe projects involved in the joint initiative are: Promoting an Integrated Approach to End Violence Against Women and Reinforcing Gender Equality in GeorgiaPromoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in GeorgiaDemocracy Starts in Schools – Engaging School Children in Decision Making Processes in Schools and Communities in GeorgiaDeveloping a Drug Prevention Support Network for Parents and Professionals in Georgia
